Mumbai based fashion designer Diya Joukani is quickly emerging as a standout Gen-Z voice in contemporary fashion, known for blending traditional Indian embroidery techniques with modern, street-inspired silhouettes.
The 25 year old first captured global attention through viral videos wearing her own designs in everyday Mumbai settings, transforming social media into a living catwalk and building a loyal global following in the process. Her work frequently incorporates heritage techniques such as Zardozi and Aari embroidery into relaxed, modern forms, reflecting what she describes as 'living memories of ancient traditional embroidery techniques intentionally styled to reflect Bombay's current lived experience and energy'. Looking ahead, Joukani plans to expand her label, Diya’s Duniya, onto international catwalks and into global retail spaces whilst maintaining its community-first ethos.
